How it works

How Acceleread trains you to read faster

Reading fast isn’t a trick — it’s a set of habits you can retrain. Here’s the daily loop that gets you there.

  1. 1

    Take your baseline reading-speed test

You start with a 2-minute assessment: read a short passage, answer a few comprehension questions, and Acceleread calculates your words-per-minute (WPM) and comprehension score. This is your honest starting line.

  2. 2

    Get a personalized daily plan

Based on your baseline and goals, Acceleread builds a short daily session — usually 10–15 minutes — mixing the right drills for where you are: pacing, span-widening, and habit-breaking exercises.

  3. 3

    Train with guided drills

Each session cycles through tools like RSVP pacing, Schulte tables, eye exercises and Hopscotch. They’re designed as bite-sized games so practice feels like play, not a chore.

  4. 4

    Check comprehension every step

Speed is only half the goal. Regular comprehension checks make sure you’re understanding what you read — so you build usable speed, not skimming.

  5. 5

Re-test, track, and keep your streak

Re-take the assessment as you progress to watch your WPM climb. Streaks, goals and progress charts keep the habit going until faster reading becomes automatic.

Frequently asked questions

How long until I see results?
Most people notice gains within one to two weeks of daily practice. Consistency matters more than session length — 15 minutes a day beats an hour once a week.
How much time does it take each day?
A typical session is 10–15 minutes. You can do a full workout on a commute or coffee break.
Do I need to import my own books?
No — Acceleread includes curated passages and drills. You can also practise on your own texts inside your library when you want to.
